2025, Flensburg harbourfront and KRAN, performance essays and installation
as part of 'artist in nature' hosted by Bunnys Ranch / Elke Mark & Hanna Kalkutschke
I spent four days and three nights in Flensburg, enjoying wintry temperatures, frozen puddles, and clear skies. My accommodation was a well-heated Unimog caravan on the harbourfront, nestled between disused railway tracks, a fishing club, and main roads. I used the time to gather my own experiences and other people's stories about harbours: What happened at waterfronts? I visited the Maritime Museum, where the exhibit on Greenland was stuck in a drawer and the section on colonialism was relegated to a small space in the back building on the second floor. These stories were shared during a joint walk along the harbourfront and culminated in KRAN. Water from the Eider River, the Baltic Sea, and Copenhagen was mixed, while an egg was boiled for seven minutes and then dropped into cold water.
The photos in which I appear were taken by Tilman Köneke.
